๐Ÿ 2025/018 | AMANDA HEATH - “NORMA JEAN” | 4.5★

DETAILS

Synopsis

The night Chance Duncan drunkenly kissed me on his couch, I vowed my revenge. I finally had something over his head, something that would bring him to his knees. It only served him right. He bullied me for years and turned me into this messed up person I am now.

Though I didn’t know at the time he wasn’t that mean little boy anymore. He was almost a man and easily stole my breath away. I just wanted to make him fall in love with, then break his heart into a million pieces. Just the way mine was. Instead he put the pieces back together and I started to feel whole again.

Good things never last. He did what I was supposed to do. Broke my already fragile heart all over again. Betrayed and alone I fled my home town and started a new life where I wasn’t in the shadow of what I did.

Now he is back and trying to worm his way into my heart, again. Though he will never know it will always belong to him. He hurt me and I want nothing to do with him. Life has other plans. Doesn’t it always?

He doesn’t know though. Doesn’t know what I’m hiding or who I’m hiding from. I never thought I would see Chance again and I’m afraid that he’ll get hurt getting mixed up in my mess. Though he is right in the middle of it, without even knowing it. I have to find a way for us to get out, before somebody dies.

My name is Norma Jean and this isn’t a fairytale.

Quote(s)

1.    Dedication

To every single girl who was told she wasn’t beautiful.

Because you are.

2.    I swear he is the only 18 year old gentleman I have ever met. He opens every door for me and kisses me on the cheek whenever he hasn’t seen me in a while. If things get to heavy when we are making out, he doesn’t push me, he calmly backs off. He doesn’t cuss around me either, which I find funny because I have the mouth of a sailor.

3.    I hate to admit I spent most of the first month crying and re-reading the messages he sent me. He called every day for the first few weeks, but with no response he stopped. No messages, no calls, nothing. I want to say that it doesn’t hurt, but it does. Bad.

4.    I can’t believe she was under my nose like this. I can’t believe she has never run into Creed. Hell they are in the same town.

5.    He shares an apartment with Creed but that asshole had to go bail his mom out of jail and wont be back till Monday.

6.    His knuckles connect with my cheek and I fall to the floor with the force of the impact.

7.    It goes to show you human nature though. As long as it’s not happening to them, no one will step up.

8.    Well how well do you really know someone? You don’t hear the thoughts in their head. You don’t know the way they think. The person sitting next to you in a restaurant could be a serial killer thinking about his latest victim. Even though he looks like a regular good looking guy. This fact only shows you can never really know someone. Just because they are nice to your face doesn’t mean they aren’t thinking horrible things about you.

9.    If I had known what I know now, then we wouldn’t be sitting here. But that’s life, you don’t get to see the road you take when you make a decision.

10. Blood helps blood whether blood deserves it or not.

11. They sit on the floor and before I can even think to stop him Creed chops off Rydstorm’s head.

12. You knew he had that lighter this whole time? we could have called someone! They could have stopped this!

13. He tole me Chance was cheating. I totally believed him because I was still pretty insecure and couldn’t believe that Chance really wanted to be with me. Now I know better…

14. It’s amazing to me what kind of things people can hide away under their skin. If you think about it, everyone is hiding a different person, one the rest of the world doesn’t know about.

15. Second, I did not rape Cassie.

16. Third, I didn’t kill Norma’s grandmother.

17. My misery will be over and I won’t have to worry about what Norma Jean is up to.

18. Those were things to keep you in check! You were wild, always off dancing with that stupid friend of yours! You would have left me so I made you sell drugs to keep you close! I fucked you in front of my friends so they would know you are mine! … you were ungrateful for everything I ever did for you!

19. I don’t honestly think it has anything to do with who his daddy is. I’m a perfect example. My dad tried to make me exactly like him and I was when I was a child, but I grew up and became a decent man. Creed didn’t. He took what he learned from his father and made it the way he lived. Never seeing it wasn’t a good thing.

20. Mrs. Chambers did have a heart attack but it says here that she was dead for at least 8 hours.

21. I may not have deserved the things that happened to me but neither did Creed. He was just a lost man who had trouble finding his way. It’s funny the difference between my two guys. One who beat the odds given to him and the other who let it drown him.

22. People sometimes have to do things to survive that doesn’t sit right with them. All they can do is learn to live with it.

23. Would I have let him get away with killing me and then praying on another innocent woman? Because that is what he would have done. These types of people don’t stop doing what they do. They get a sick sense of satisfaction for hurting others. It makes them feel in control.

24. I couldn’t believe that she told everyone he raped her just to save face.

BOOK JOURNEY

Thoughts

(2)

Aww! Chance is just so sweet!

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(3)

You should have gone and confront him!

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(4)

Oh man!

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(5)

Goodness! So that’s Creed! Norma’s new boyfriend!

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(6)

No! He’s hitting her!

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(11)

He is a really violent person!

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(12)

Nope. You know that ain’t true.

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(13)

It’s sad. They could have happily ever after long time ago.

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(15)

Wow! That tells a different story. But is that true?

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(16)

What? I guess you’re not that bad a person huh?

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(17)

I just said you weren’t that bad of a person then you decided to kill Norma?!

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(18)

That’s a twisted way of keeping a partner! Geez!

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(20)

Creed was telling the truth. I guess he was telling the truth all along. He didn’t rape Cassie. Why then Cassie wants to lie? This is the kind of things that send people to jail!

—————— เธ…՞• •՞เธ… ———————

(24)

Now I get it! Because Macy was born without Cassie being married.

Reading Experience

Finally! Finally, there’s male and female protagonist that’s virgin! But why? Why they have to be broken up just because of what people said? I mean, yeah, I get it, there’s always this man/woman who wants either of them, but why? They can always confront their partner! Geez! There gone the one and only person who they are intimate with! URGH!

After reading the whole story, I get that Norma and Chance felt insecure with each other. They can grow together instead of growing apart and come back stronger. I feel sad reading that. They would be each other’s one and only. Physically and spiritually. *sigh*
