Quote(s)
1.
A smile is just one weapon in a woman’s
arsenal, after all. 2.
Men, she had learned, were gluttons for
flattery. Even when the flattery was obviously absurd, even when it was
completely dissociated with the reality of the situation, they were gluttons
for it. 3.
If you can please somebody, they will
do anything for you. 4.
She was led into a well-furnished office
which was dominated by an arrogant desk, the kind of desk arrogant men sat
behind when they wanted to tell the world just how important – nay, arrogant –
they were. 5.
Impassioned stallions were all the more
loyal when tamed. 6.
If you treated them how they wanted to
be treated they would take an instant liking to you. 7.
Never again would her past define her. The future was all. 8. Miss Abrams married him, you see, but the marriage must not have been very enjoyable for Wallace. He lost a lot of weight and his hair stated to go grey early, and he became like a mouse, and his voice was quiet and he never met your eye. Nothing at all like his old self or his Father. |

Reading Experience
It is a surprised to read something
like this. When two different races being together publicly in the 1970s. It
kind of enrages me that Alma was raped and belittled by her father when she
was still very young and her mother took that out of Alma because of her jealousy.
This was an outrageous behaviour! I’m glad that she found her love when she was in a run (in a way). Glad that she found a life that she wanted for a long time although I do not agree with the way of her getting what she wanted. |
Question(s)

does she do to Wallace that he suffered so much after their marriage? |
