DETAILS

Synopsis

This edition of Sweet Girl is now told in dual 1st person POV

Gavin has been toying with mortals’ lust and desire for longer than he can remember. He’s ditched the wings and silly bow and arrows in exchange for something more powerful: a dating app he designed called Cupid’s Arrow.

Valentine’s is Gavin’s favorite night of the year, and Cupid’s Arrow is hosting a singles event at the hottest club in town. Gavin is ready to sit back and watch the fun—until she walks in.

Chloe has given her friend an hour at this singles party before she walks out. The naughty candy hearts and gimmicky drinks amuse her, as does each person's attempt at charming their way into her bed, but Chloe isn’t swayed—until a man who calls himself Cupid joins her at the bar.

Quote(s)

1.    DTF

2.    He’d lived centuries, delved in desires and toyed with people’s emotions for all of them.

3.    She’s just another mortal.

4.    “I think you would be an awful distraction from what I want right now… and I’m not ready to give that up or put myself in a position that would make it unfair to you.”

“Not ready to, or unwilling?”

5.    After my last relationship, I think I’m completely terrified that I’ll lose myself for someone again, … I lost everything about who I had become. It’s like this switch just turned off, and I became someone I didn’t know. I shut out my family. I stopped talking to friends. And after that relationship ended, I didn’t know who to be. I had lost so much during that time that I had nowhere to go and no one to turn to. I fell into this… hole. I threw myself into work and everything I could get my hands on. I drank… I cried… I tried things that…

And then one day, I looked up, and years had passed… I have worked so hard at finding myself again, … I finally got my family back. I found a job that I love that is on my own time… I found reading and nature again. A couple of friends who are actual friends and not just pretending… the thought of someone coming in and taking that from me is…

I just can’t lost myself again…

6.    I honestly hate dates, … they’re so awkward – at least the first few. It’s like each one is a new job interview.

7.    I prefer this, … I prefer feeling a connection in person and chasing it.

Thoughts

(1)

DTF in British English (slang):

abbreviation for the taboo expression 'down to fuck': used especially in social media, text messages, etc to indicate willingness for a sexual encounter.

Reading Experience

The sexual tension… Phew! It makes me hot and sweaty! I want me some candy hearts! I love it when Chloe tells Gavin what she felt when she was in a relationship. That was real. I’m looking forward to them get together.
