DETAILS

Synopsis

Cumming, Georgia journalist Jessica Holland isn't feeling the joy of the holiday. Recently dumped by someone she didn't even love, she's more fa la la la blah than fa la la la la. So when her best friend Ashley forces her to sit on Santa's lap at the local mall, the Scrooge in her comes out. Jessica doesn't believe in Santa - that silly myth is only for children. Or is he? When Santa tells Jessica he'll give her whatever she wants for Christmas and that she'll finally believe in his magic, she asks for the one thing she knows he can't give. She asks for true love. But can Santa make that happen?

Quote(s)

1.    Ho! Ho! Ho! Santa is for everyone, my dear. He is magical. God bestowed upon Santa a very serious responsibility, a gift to teach children and adults how to believe in something beyond the reach of their senses. You and many others need this ability to believe, because it’s not just about Santa, it’s about the magic of things unseen, things untouchable, things like true love, things you will hold dear during your happiest and hardest moments. That is what Santa gives you, my dear, the power to believe in something when there is no reason.

2.    “I’m not going anywhere, my dear and I already know what it is you seek, what your heart desires.”

“Well then, if you already know, why did you ask?”

“Because my dear, one cannot see the unseen, experience the magic of Santa without expressing their desire. You must tell me for me to make it real.”

3.    jury is out on that

4.    “At my house. I have a dock.”

5.    reading between the line

6.    “Told you… true love. I’m never wrong about these things.”

Thoughts

(3)

The phrase "the jury is out" means that a decision has not yet been made or that something is still under consideration. It originally comes from the legal world, where a jury deliberates before reaching a verdict in a trial. If the jury hasn't reached a decision, it's said to be "out," meaning the matter is still unresolved.

If I didn’t know this is a romance, I’ll probably think this is a book about a serial killer luring a girl to his house.

(5)

"Reading between the lines" means to interpret something beyond its literal or obvious meaning, often to uncover hidden messages, implications, or subtleties that are not explicitly stated.

This phrase suggests looking deeper into a situation or text to grasp the full meaning, sometimes when things are not directly said, but can be inferred.

Reading Experience

It’s too rush! Story is under-developed! Can people fall in love just like that? I’m not convinced.
