DETAILS
Synopsis
THE CHOSEN ONE I vow. You vow. We vow. Barrington University is home of the
Lords, a secret society that requires their blood in payment. They are above
all—the most powerful men in the world. They devote their lives to violence
in exchange for power. And during their senior year, they are offered a
chosen one. People think growing up with money is
freeing, but I promise you, it’s not. My entire life has been planned out for
me. I never got the chance to do what I wanted until Ryat Alexander Archer
came along and gave me an option for a better life. He offered me what no one
else ever had—freedom. I chose to be his. He made me believe
that anyway, but it was just another lie. A way that the Lords manipulate you
into doing what they want. After being sucked into the dark,
twisted world of the Lords, I embraced my new role and allowed Ryat to parade
me around like the trophy I was to him. But like all things, what started out
as a game soon became a fight for survival. And the only way out was death. This book can be read as a standalone
but the timeline of the Lords books is as follows: The Ritual The Sinner The Sacrifice Sabotage (the H isn't a Lord but he
works for a Lord) |

Quote(s)
1.
Wealth got us here. Yet our
determination will separate us by the time it’s over. 2.
You want to be powerful? Then you
realize you are a threat to those who want your position. In order to succeed,
you don’t have to be stronger, just deadlier. 3.
… those who spill secrets will be
silenced. 4.
I could draw it out, but why take that
chance? too many things can go wrong. And it’s not like you get points for creativity. 5.
A Lord is made to feed off another. It’s
like anything else – someone has to be at the top, and another has to hold up
the bottom. But still, powerful nonetheless. After graduation, we’re each
strategically placed where we fit best in the world. 6.
She doesn’t belong to me. 7.
Drop this. Right now. it does not
concern you. 8.
I’m not killing for sport. I do what
needs to be done. Period. 9.
“This is the start of the ritual” … 10.
They say the one accusing you of
cheating is usually the bastard stepping out. 11.
Never underestimate a woman hell-bent
on revenge. She’ll do anything to make an ex regret what he didn’t
appreciate. 12.
The ritual is a game the Lords made up
to pass the fucking time. Imagine having more money
than you could ever spend. More than your grandkids could ever spend. More than
your great-grand-kids … you get the point. Somewhere, something has to
give. After graduation, you begin your new role in the world as a Lord and
settle down with some bitch who’ll fuck the pool boy any chance she gets. She’ll
have the nannies raise your ungrateful children while you’re flying around
the world working, fucking a one-night stand in your penthouse suite that you
met in a bar and won’t bother to remember her name. Yeah, I’m cynical. Love doesn’t
exist. Convenience does. Most of us are already set to marry that certain
person who will make our lives a living hell. There’s a reason the rich stay
rich – arrangements are set in place before we even come along. Empires are
combined to remain indestructible. Contracts signed, promises spoken, and
alliances made to ensure our futures remain on top. 13.
This is what the oath is for –
restraint. It’s about thinking things through and outliving our opponent. Wear
them down. Show no mercy. We are stronger than them. 14.
You know what they say – better to find
out now rather than fives years down the road and three kids later. 15.
Social media makes you think you have
all this freedom, but you don’t. Not really. You’re stuck behind a device
watching others live out their dreams. You post selfies of fake smiles and
expensive clothes, hoping that someone will envy you. Reassure you just how
good you have it. All the while hating your life. 16.
Desperation is never pretty. 17.
I stand under the center sprayer and just
enjoy the warm water before washing my hair with his shampoo. Then I use his
bodywash, and it makes me wonder if this is why he brought me here. One more
way to claim me. It’s hard to deny a man if you bathe in his scent. 18.
These women go down as missing persons
and are never looked for. When the public isn’t even aware your organization
exists, no one suspects you committed the crime. 19.
Ryat Archer will be the most ruthless
and renowned judge in New York. Well, possibly in the US. 20.
“Don’t be ashamed, Blake.” I’ve never
been one to kink shame. We all like something different. It takes some of us
a little more to get off. Some of us have better imaginations than others
when it comes to fantasies. 21.
I know Lords who prefer to watch other
men fuck their chosens. I’d never allow that but that doesn’t mean it’s
wrong. Fuck, maybe it means I’m insecure, and that’s completely fine. That’s my
issue, not anyone else’s. who the fuck cares? As long as all parties are
consenting, then do whatever the fuck you want. 22.
I will marry Blake, and she will be my
wife – forever. I will not be marrying Cindy. 23.
It’s just a verbal agreement. … Not
like he can sue you over it. And if it was that important to you, you wouldn’t
have forced my hand to pick her as my chosen in the first place. 24.
“How far out will this wedding be?” “As soon as possible”… “But you’re both in college…” “Why is that a problem?” I ask,
tilting my head to the side. Lots of people get married before and during
college. She doesn’t need to attend Barrington after I graduate this year. She
doesn’t need the degree, and she sure as shit won’t be working. I will be the
sole provider for our family. Blakely will depend on me for everything, and I
will give the woman whatever the fuck she wants. 25.
One of the things I learned as a Lord
is if you give someone enough rope they always hang themselves. 26.
Matt snorts. “She was going to kill
him.” 27.
No two people love the same way. And everyone
has a different opinion on what love actually is. 28.
“How often will they take him from me?” 29.
“There are no set dates. But Ryat is
one of the best, and the Lords know that. It could be three times in one year
or it could be twenty.” … “He could get called out after breakfast and return
before dinner. Or he could miss Christmas, anniversaries, and the birth of
every child you guys decide to have.” … “A Lord serves whenever he is called.
We’re machines bred for war. And someone, somewhere is always trying to wage
one.” 30.
A Lord is nothing without his Lady. … Ryat
without you, is just another ordinary man. … You make him a Lord, Blakely. … Don’t
ever kneel thinking that you need to serve him. Kneel because you want to
serve him. 31.
I bought this cabin out in the middle
of nowhere to be alone. To get away from everything. My wife made it a home. The
once empty house is now filled with photos over the years we have spent
together on vacations, date nights, our kids succeeding in school and sports.
It tells our life story. |

Reading Experience
I wish I don’t need my sleep and finished
it in one go. That says how good this book is. I love how Ryat thinks and the
way that he thinks he should do that protect what’s his. That alpha male
vibe~ *Dreamy~* I didn’t understand why Blake kept
asking questions that she shouldn’t ask. Not until I put myself in her shoes.
Not knowing where your partner is going. Ghosted in the middle of the night. Come
back with bruises and scars. Yeap, definitely more questions. I just wished
she would attend some self-defence classes though. So that she knows she can
use some techniques on her enemies in case anything happens. What I don’t understand is that why
Lady is being summoned to do an assignment? Does that mean LeAnne is a Lord
instead of a Lady? I thought only male can be a Lord? It is very confusing. Lastly,
the sex is just the right amount. Not too detailed but enough to get hot. |

Why LeAnne goes on a mission as a Lady? 2.
Did Sarah and Gunner make it as husband

How Matt knows others’ position when
