SYNOPSIS
Healed by her touch…
After months on an undercover operation that went explosively wrong, former Navy SEAL JD Teller has one week to win back his estranged wife before the birth of their baby. Can he convince Naomi that she’s the love of his life? Or will their happiness be torn asunder by a ruthless diamond smuggler with a particular hatred for JD?
READING EXPERIENCE
Another one-night stand story—this time with JD knocking up Naomi and marrying her in Vegas the day before his deployment.
The story was okay overall. The ending felt a bit too convenient and abrupt, like everything was tied up a little too neatly. That said, there were moments that really stood out and moved me.
One particularly powerful scene was when JD delivered his own baby right after rescuing Naomi from a fire. That moment was both terrifying and awe-inspiring—it had me holding my breath. I’m so relieved they both made it through okay.
What really touched me was Naomi’s honesty about what she expects in a husband, and JD’s willingness to make that happen. His decision to switch to another job so he could be there for his family—emotionally and physically—left me speechless. I love seeing couples who genuinely try to make things work. I hope JD finds a job that not only pays the bills but also keeps him engaged, while allowing him to be present for Naomi and their child.
The gesture of using the money he earned to help Naomi open the shop of her dreams was incredibly sweet and thoughtful. Moments like that show true partnership.
Lastly, the emotional toll on the wives and partners of soldiers—especially those left behind while pregnant or raising a child—was deeply impactful. Once again, I want to say thank you to all the spouses and partners of soldiers. Your sacrifices are real, and they matter just as much.
My favorite quote from the book:
“If we’re to have any chance of making our marriage work, we need to communicate.”
