SYNOPSIS

After a successful undercover operation in Ireland, former Navy SEAL, Liam Ryan, is about to fly home to spend the holidays with his daughter. A panicked phone call from his boss throws a wrench in Liam’s plans. An old adversary is terrorizing a chain of adult stores, and one of the stores is run by Jill Bekele, Liam’s ex-girlfriend.

READING EXPERIECE
It was an okay read overall. The lives that soldiers and first responders lead are undeniably noble and admirable. But reading about the toll it takes on their families was heartbreaking. I really felt for Meggie—while she understands her father’s sense of duty to protect others, it’s still sad that she missed out on so many moments they could have shared together.
One part that really touched me was when Liam told Jill that Amy had cheated while he was deployed:
“She knew you were in the military when she married you.”
“Right, but I don’t think she realized how hard the separations would be.”
That exchange hit hard. It reminded me of the quiet sacrifices made not just by those in uniform, but by their families too.
To all the wives—and partners—of soldiers and first responders: I salute you. Your strength, patience, and love are just as vital as your partners’ service. Thank you.
