Quote(s)
1.
You’re polite. I like that. The last
girl got fired because she had a big mouth. She liked to gossip with the
other staff and speculate about things which were none of her concern. If you
mind your own business and do your work properly, you will always have a home
here. 2.
They had expected that you would return
to work for them. They mentioned you had left due to a personal matter. 3.
Surprised that anyone would expect
their co-workers to clean up after them. 4.
After that, Cara had been forced to
come clean with him about her heritage. 5.
However, by the Christmas of the second
year, Cara could sense a distance in him. 6.
He was sneaking into her room in the
middle of the night, waking her up with kisses and endless lovemaking
marathons, even trying different positions he had never attempted prior. 7.
Realistically, Cara knew that the
senior Carlyle’s were going to be an obstacle they would need to overcome. 8.
She said yes, of course, and her name
was Yvette Montrose. 9.
She and Damien had met at Harvard and
they had been together since their second year, moving into an apartment
together within months of beginning their relationship. 10.
The newlyweds moved into the Carlyle
brownstone and Cara often served them breakfast in bed on mornings after
Damien spent the night in Cara’s room. 11.
Cara believed that his wife had stolen
him away and not vice versa so she continued to play the role as Damien’s
mistress, biding her time. 12.
He had brought her poor economic
background into play, her lack of formal education and then accused her at attempting
to trap him by getting deliberately pregnant and ruin his future with Yvette. 13.
He literally tossed a few one hundred
dollar bills at her and demanded she end the pregnancy. 14.
Sincerely, Cara did not hate Damien. She
was furious at herself for being so willfully blind but she could not blame a
scorpion for being a scorpion. She had fair warning of his reputation and had
deliberately ignored it. She had believed he would treat her differently than
all of the other women he had left in his wake despite the fact that all of
the signs showed he did not care about her. She had merely been another pawn
in a long line. 15.
You’re here to work, not be a martyr. Don’t
assume anything. Things are not always as they appear. 16.
Suddenly, Connor abruptly stopped as if
he was shocked to find himself there. 17.
Had she seen? 18.
What had she been thinking? 19.
She had begun liken her boss to a vampire. 20.
“No, nothing helped what was ailing my
development but something did strengthen and that is the bond I have with my
parents. That relationship is unbreakable. You know why, Ms. Castillo?” … “Because I have the utmost
faith in those people. They never gave up on me when anyone else in their
situation would. They stood ny my side under what could hage only been the
worst case scenario to a pair of poor people with no education and no support
system. Why do you think they did it?” “Because you’re their
child, Mr. Lamoreaux.” … “It’s more than that. It’s
because they, my mother in particular, had faith in me getting well. She saw
something promising in me and knew that if I could get over the worst,
something amazing would transpire. It is easy to forget when things get very dark
that sometimes there is good where no one can see it.” 21.
You ask too many questions, Ms.
Castillo. Sometimes you just need to let things evolve naturally and not
demand answers to everything. 22.
I can see much deeper than you can
imagine. 23.
“You say ‘we’ but you mean ‘you’ don’t you?
This was always your charity.” “It takes a village, Ms.
Castillo,” … “No one can do everything by themselves.” 24.
“Behind every remarkable man is an even
more remarkable woman, Ms. Castillo,” he replied, leaning in suddenly. “And I
would like very much for you to be that woman for me.” 25.
There was gentle, rhythmic slapping
accompanied by moans. 26.
You look like you’re about to run
screaming any minute and I need you to understand that you won’t just be
hurting yourself if you do that. You’ll affect everyone in this place if you
do. So grow a pair, ignore the rich, snobby dickheads out there and focus on
what’s important. If you care about Mr. Lam, you’ll find a way to ignore the
gossip and dirty looks. We have all made sacrifices because we care about Mr.
Lam and we’re still standing. It wont kill you to grin and bear it. 27.
The look in her eyes, it had been the
same void, lifeless expression which those other people had held at the first
charity event she had attended. 28.
She was in love with Connor! 29.
Aside from the psychic from his
childhood, Tabitha, she would be the only other one he had ever encountered
in his life. |
BOOK JOURNEY
Thoughts
(2) Is anything fishy going on here? Why do
you left? Were you being harassed? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (4) I will assume that never end well. —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (5) Of course. Either he has met someone or
the reality hits that it makes him know what was he supposed to do to stay in
the higher society. —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (6) He cheated on you! —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (7) And for how many years you didn’t see
Damien making an attempt to working the relationship between you and his
parents? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (8) It means he has been using you as a scratch

yourself? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (11) What are you doing? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (12) Gosh. This man is low-life. —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (13) ARRRGGGHHHHH! —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (16) What? He has dual personality or
something? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (17) Likely so. —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (18) Exactly. —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (19) Is he now? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (20) Maybe he is telling you that you’re
his? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (22) That means he can listen to all the thought.
Which means those dreams aren’t dreams at all. —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (23) Awww… aren’t you a modest person? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (24) What? Why? Out of the blue? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (25) So… nothing paranormal but he’s into
SM? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (27) Now’s the paranormal going. So who is
he? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (28) What? I thought she was older by 20
years old? Is she not? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (29) I hope that doesn’t mean he’s involved
with Tabitha. Otherwise it would be awful! |
Reading Experience
The girl is trying her very best to
believe in Damien that he will eventually give her the happily ever after despite
she knew that he might not have intended to. I’m not sure why she didn’t move
on. This makes me very sad for her. Overall, the story is surprisingly
good. It’s better than the other one that I have read. Almost as if this book
is written by a ghost writer. Anyway, I would assume that Connor is not
involved with Tabitha and is intended to stay with Cara and Cara only. Then,
everything sounds good. Hopefully they get to help all those who needed to be
help. Cheers. |
