Synopsis
|
In a shadowy house in Long Island, Cara

After that, Cara had been forced to
come clean with him about her heritage. 5.
However, by the Christmas of the second
year, Cara could sense a distance in him. 6.
He was sneaking into her room in the
middle of the night, waking her up with kisses and endless lovemaking
marathons, even trying different positions he had never attempted prior. 7.
Realistically, Cara knew that the
senior Carlyle’s were going to be an obstacle they would need to overcome. 8.

She and Damien had met at Harvard and
they had been together since their second year, moving into an apartment

The newlyweds moved into the Carlyle
brownstone and Cara often served them breakfast in bed on mornings after

Cara believed that his wife had stolen
him away and not vice versa so she continued to play the role as Damien’s
mistress, biding her time. 12.
He had brought her poor economic
background into play, her lack of formal education and then accused her at attempting
to trap him by getting deliberately pregnant and ruin his future with Yvette. 13.
He literally tossed a few one hundred
dollar bills at her and demanded she end the pregnancy. 14.
Sincerely, Cara did not hate Damien. She
was furious at herself for being so willfully blind but she could not blame a
scorpion for being a scorpion. She had fair warning of his reputation and had
deliberately ignored it. She had believed he would treat her differently than
all of the other women he had left in his wake despite the fact that all of
the signs showed he did not care about her. She had merely been another pawn
in a long line. 15.
You’re here to work, not be a martyr. Don’t

Suddenly, Connor abruptly stopped as if
he was shocked to find himself there. 17.

because they, my mother in particular, had faith in me getting well. She saw
something promising in me and knew that if I could get over the worst,
something amazing would transpire. It is easy to forget when things get very dark
that sometimes there is good where no one can see it.” 21.

Castillo. Sometimes you just need to let things evolve naturally and not

“Behind every remarkable man is an even
more remarkable woman, Ms. Castillo,” he replied, leaning in suddenly. “And I

There was gentle, rhythmic slapping
accompanied by moans. 26.
You look like you’re about to run
screaming any minute and I need you to understand that you won’t just be
hurting yourself if you do that. You’ll affect everyone in this place if you
do. So grow a pair, ignore the rich, snobby dickheads out there and focus on
what’s important. If you care about Mr. Lam, you’ll find a way to ignore the
gossip and dirty looks. We have all made sacrifices because we care about Mr.
Lam and we’re still standing. It wont kill you to grin and bear it. 27.

same void, lifeless expression which those other people had held at the first

Reading Experience

The girl is trying her very best to
believe in Damien that he will eventually give her the happily ever after despite
she knew that he might not have intended to. I’m not sure why she didn’t move
on. This makes me very sad for her. Overall, the story is surprisingly
good. It’s better than the other one that I have read. Almost as if this book
is written by a ghost writer. Anyway, I would assume that Connor is not
involved with Tabitha and is intended to stay with Cara and Cara only. Then,
everything sounds good. Hopefully they get to help all those who needed to be
