Synopsis
What do tequila, furry handcuffs,
shame, and a 6’ 2” hot man with a black eye all have in common? They were all
in my bed last night. Well, shame was there this morning. My asshole roommate
up and moved out and rented her “room” to some guy her brother’s coworker’s
cousin “knows really well.” The aforementioned roommate thinks we’ll get on
like a house on fire. I tell her I don’t think anything related to fire is a
good thing. Especially as this guy and I will now quite literally be sharing
the same room, with a divider for “privacy.” Sounds bad, right? Well, it gets
worse. Ethan Huntington is the most annoying, frustrating know-it-all,
pompous jerk I’ve ever met. I did try to be open and ask him about himself
when he moved in. But his responses consisted of, “Ask me no questions and
I’ll tell you no lies.” Yeah, okay. Cue major eye rolls as I walked away from
him. It only made me angrier when I heard him laughing as I slammed the door
as if he’d gotten the last laugh. He thinks he’s God’s gift to women just
because he’s hot. I can’t I’ve seen him without his shirt, and let’s just say
he got more than my heart racing. But that doesn’t mean I’ll succumb to him.
No way. Well, that was the plan. Until that night. When we decided to play a
few rounds of cards and we drank way too much. Sure, we had one night. But
that’s all it’s going to be. I’m not going to let my one-night mistake stop
me from going out and meeting Mr. Right—even if Ethan is still living with me
and I can’t get him out of my mind. And then the first letter arrived and
changed everything. Maybe that one-night mistake was just the beginning of
something really special. |

Quote(s)
1.
Just because they’d found love
didn’t mean I had to find love. It was the last thing that I wanted. The
very last thing. 2.
“You don’t think that I can live with a
roommate? I had roommates in college.” 3.
Why did I feel like I’d just fallen
into a trap? 4.
Girl, it’s not even a one-bedroom
apartment. It’s a studio. 5.
“Because if I didn’t take work home, I’d
get fired because I’d never be able to finish anything. I never thought
working for a fashion designer would be this much work. Like when I watch Project
Runway, they never seem to be doing much in the evening.” “Girl, that’s because the
people in the show are the top designers in the country. They’re not showing
the administrative assistants and photographers like you who were doing all
the grunt work.” 6.
If I was completely honest, I’d rather
have been sitting on my couch having a beer and watching football, but I didn’t
want to sound like an old man. 7.
Or a taken man. 8.
I hadn’t been with anyone in a long
time. well, four months, which was a long time for me, but I just wasn’t
interested in meaningless sex and the inevitable drama that followed. 9.
“I’m Victoria. I’m a model. …” 10.
“And then this is my roommate,
Mildred,” Victoria introduced the other girl almost as an afterthought. 11.
“It’s Molly, remember?” 12.
“Sometimes I just feel like I’m too
nice and people just take advantage of me. Think they can just speak to me
any old way, you know?” 13.
“Oh, she’s such a bore,” Victoria said.
“I wish I’d never let her live with me. She is so ungrateful. But I suppose
that’s what they say about British people, right?” 14.
“That they’re ungrateful, like they
have such high expectations. She moved to New York City and expected to live
in some fabulous apartment for like, no money. And she was lucky enough to
meet me, and I’m letting her stay in my wonderful apartment, two bedrooms on
the Upper West Side for $1000 a month, and she’s so ungrateful.” 15.
I would dance with her so she didn’t
feel bad, but that’s all she would be getting from me tonight. 16.
Beggars can’t be choosers 17.
“Yeah, girl. You’re lucky she’s not
like one of those losers that sits home watching TV all night, every night,
and never leaves. That would be absolutely awful.” “Um, you know you just
described me?” “I know.” He winked. 18.
You live with your girlfriend who was
your best friend, who you used to hang out with almost every night anyway. 19.
“Oh, really?” 20.
Uggh! So, I had a talk with her the
other night and I said, ‘Look, you can’t be bringing guys back to stay at the
apartment, because I can hear everything that you’re doing. And it’s kind of
hard to sleep when I hear you screaming out, ‘Faster, faster. Oh yeah, baby.
Just like that!’ I mean, it’s just not acceptable, you know?” 21.
He obviously knew he was really
attractive, and he obviously knew the way to get into a woman’s heart was to
compliment her. 22.
I
was English after all. I had manners and I was polite, and I had to hold my
head up high and accept that this was the situation that I was in. if I
didn’t make it better somehow then I was going to be miserable. And I was
already miserable enough in my work life. I couldn’t take even more misery in
my home life. 23.
I came from a very different world,
though I knew obviously that the underbelly of the city existed. I just
wasn’t someone that had to deal with it on a day-to-day basis. And I didn’t
want Molly to have to deal with it on a day-to-day basis. What would she do
when I wasn’t here? 24.
I couldn’t remember the last time I’d
been around a real, genuine, normal girl. Maybe it was the groups that I hung
out in, but it felt nice to be here, just a normal guy bitching about his
job, enjoying an evening in with his new roommate who was incredibly sexy. 25.
All’s fair in love and war. Right? And when
it comes to money, people do lots of shady things. 26.
You couldn’t really live the life you
wanted in such close quarters, but I guess there was nothing wrong with
compromising and ensuring that you thought about others’ wellbeing as well. 27.
“If she’s a friend of yours, I think I will.”
I said softly and followed her up the stairs. What she’d said had really
impacted me, and I realized that even though the city had always been my
home, it had never felt as comfortable and as warm and as welcoming as it did
now that she was in my life. 28.
I couldn’t believe that we’d only known
each other for four months and yet here she was, my beautiful girlfriend, and
here we were having dinner at my older brother’s apartment. 29. "You proposed?" Sarah was crying tears of happiness as she ran over to Molly and hugged her. “Of course, she’s the love of my life. I wasn’t going to let her go. Not for a second. Not for an hour. She’s mine forever. She’ll be my roommate and my lover and my wife, the mother of my children. She’s everything to me, and I have a feeling that I’ll be getting a lot of looks from people in the street.” “What do you mean?” Molly said with a giggle. “People who haven’t found love yet, they’ll be envious and maybe annoyed by all the love I bestow upon you, but I don’t care. I get it now. love isn’t to be hidden or shied away from, love is to be given freely and purely. Let the world see it, let the world enjoy it because it’s love that makes the world go around.” |

(1) Right. Of course. —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (2) So, this is where it starts. —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (3) LOL. You did. If you can’t live with a
roommate, that means you’re going to work for the Enterprise. If you can live
with a roommate, there’s a chance you might get yourself a partner. Win-win
situation for the brother. (Smirk) —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (4) Wow. That’s a literal roommate. —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (5) Ain’t that true? —————— ฅ՞• •՞ฅ ——————— (6) LOL. That’s not a lifestyle of an old

Conclusion
Initially, I thought that this type of
book is not my cup of tea. I’m not sure why. But I really like the writing
style. It’s kinda elegant. LOL. Most importantly, it’s free of foul words! I’m
really happy with this. Anyway, as it progresses, I discovered that I really
like how things goes. Not sure about getting married after getting to know
each other for four months though. Regardless, congratulations to both of
you, Ethan and Molly. |
