Quote(s)
1.
She’d needed every minute, too, because
there were about ten major mistakes in the report that she hadn’t even
noticed the first time she prepared it. She’d mixed up last year’s numbers
with next year’s projections! Who did that? 2.
He’d been right to put her on
performance review and demand she go over it again. 3.
Well, she’d fixed her mistakes now and
she’d be damned if she was ever going to do something like that again. 4.
You’re still under performance review. Just
because you fixed your mistake doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten that you made it
in the first place. 5.
I know it’s probably hard, but I think
you made the right decision there. Business and pleasure never mix well. 6.
She’d called to break the bad news to Tyler
and that’s when they’d both realized they couldn’t make it work. Tyler travelled
too much and Sarah wasn’t willing to screw over her career and neglect her
family to be with him. 7.
She’d known it was the right decision
as she sat in her mother’s living room with all her siblings and watched her
five-year-old niece, Katie, open her presents, squealing in delight at each
and every one. Money couldn’t buy moments like that. She would’ve loved to have
more time with Tyler, but if she couldn’t keep him, her family, and her job,
then it was a no-brainer. Family first. Job second. Man third. Always. It was the right choice for
her. Now she just had to find a
way to live with it. 8.
Sarah felt relieved for the first time
in weeks, like a giant weight had been lifted off her shoulders. 9.
Sarah couldn’t explain it. None of her
family would understand because they hadn’t had to live that life every
single day. The looks, the silent judgment, the feeling like she’d never
really belong. It had all been that much worse when she was with Tyler. 10.
Maybe Jane was right. Maybe he did owe
her. 11.
But love isn’t enough, Tyler. We’re too
different. You want to travel around the world on your jet, mingle with rich people,
run an empire, and be powerful. I just want to pay my bills, live in a cute
little three bedroom, two bath home in the suburbs with a big yard, a golden
retriever, and 2.2 kids, spend my weeks on a job I love, and my weekends with
my family. 12.
He knelt down on one knee and took her
hand in his. 13.
Somehow, someway, she and Tyler had found their way back
to one another again and she wasn’t about to let him go this time. |

Conclusion
I’m not sure how I feel about this. I’m
happy that they’re together but can they live happily ever after? All I can
see is that Tyler is the one who tried his best to make an effort. She’s the
one who pushes it all away. I don’t know. Let’s see what’s next, shall we? |
